The CommunityBanker 12 VACB Seeks Recognition for Outstanding Community Bankers in Our Second Annual Awards ollowing a successful launch last year, VACB is again looking to celebrate the hardworking men and women who strive every day to make lives better and to make a difference in their communi- ties. VACB will honor a Community Banker of the Year and the 2017 Rising Star from among our member banks in Virginia for a second year. The Association wants to recognize the exceptional work that happens every day in our local communities by the individual employees of VACB member com- munity banks. Look for additional details fromVACB in the coming few days, outlining the nomination process for both awards. It’s time to start thinking about who would be great nominees from your bank! Here are the details to ponder as you consider who may be a good nominee for our second annual Community Banking Awards. A candidate for the Community Banker of the Year Award is a mid- to senior level employee who has demonstrated the following qualities: • Strong moral character • Team leadership • Community involvement • Industry advocacy • Successful bank leadership A candidate for the Rising Star would be a mid-level employee, under the age of 35, who has demonstrated the following qualities: • Leadership • Community involvement • Volunteerism • Innovative programs or initiatives VACB will be accepting nominations for both of these awards from July 3 – August 25, 2017. Winners will be announced and celebrated at VACB’s 40th Annual Convention & Trade Show, scheduled for October 1 – 3 at Kingsmill Resort in Williamsburg.
