She started her career just after high school graduation, and worked at the bank while getting her college degree. She excels at anything she attempts, and always does it with a smile on her face. No matter what Jera is assigned, she completes it on time, under budget and exceeds expectations. Currently, she handles the training and marketing for the bank, and this may be her best fit as Jera started the training program there. The program was created from scratch, and it has blossomed into a very important part of the bank ’ s success. New employees are ready to hit the ground running once they have completed Jera ’ s program. She has also instituted an online training program that includes general and customized classes for existing employees that need additional training or annual certification courses. Jera is considered a resource to all of her fellow employees when they have a problem or a question they can't solve, which is one of the best examples of great leadership. Jera is just one of those rare people that make you feel better just by being around her. She takes pride in her work and she makes the folks around her better employees. VACB Fourth Annual Rising Star Co - Recipient Keith Smith, VP, Branch Manager Village Bank, Midlothian Keith Smith has worked for Village Bank since 2007, starting as a teller, advancing to Vice President and Branch Manager. He has built his reputation as a Community Bank Leader. Keith ’ s appreciation for his bank, and community banking in general, is most admirable. In his own words, he offered this encouraging word: “ Our bank ’ s unique way of community involvement also increases the ability of young professionals to grow. They are able to get out and lend a helping hand with more than just banking experiences, which in return strengthens the contact base and increases trust in the professional and the Bank. Being involved in the community raises awareness of the good that our bank wished to bring to the area and the people around us. ” His passion for his career and his bank is evident, and is reflected from his customers. Consumer and business customers alike have continually described him as professional, helpful and a gentleman with superb customer service skills.
