The CommunityBanker 8 F E A T U R E Coping with COVID W hile everyone has struggled with what Standard Operating Procedures should look like in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, things have settled down somewhat. While it is uncertain as to what is in store for us later in the summer, at least things aren’t changing daily (or hourly!) as they were at the end of March and through most of April. As life settles down, one thing that is on everyone’s “to-do” list is to document the response to the pandemic to create a “Lessons Learned” profile. But who had time to document anything? With trying to decide how to divide staff into A/B teams, determining who might have preexisting conditions or have child care issues, how to participate in the federal stimulus program, how to procure personal protection equipment — is it any wonder that pandemic documentation took a back seat! Through ongoing COVID-19 discussions with 200 commu- nity banks in 15 states a focused exchange centered on three topics that may help when enhancing your plans, policies and procedures: • What Did We Get Right? • What Did We Not Anticipate? • What Would We Have Done Differently? How Will We Reopen? The discussions were held through April and the results from each call were aggregated and segmented into the fol- lowing categories: *Technology, *Human Resources, *Information Se- curity, *Sanitation, *Business Continuity Plan, *Facilities and*Business Considerations.
